Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday (August 29) that he hoped Russia would retain its right to host the 2018 World Cup soccer championship, despite the conflict in Ukraine that Kiev and the West accuse Russia of supporting. Putin made the comments in a question and answer session at the annual Russia youth camp on the banks of Lake Seliger. Putin said he hoped the World Cup would go on as planned, with a few revisions to the amount of stadiums Russia would offer.
