Thirteen people were killed when torrential rains triggered deadly landslides in Mexico's gulf state of Veracruz as weakening tropical depression Fernand moved northwest over central Mexico on Monday (August 26) and away from the country's major oil installations. In the city of Martinez de la Torre, floodwaters swept through the city after heavy rains reportedly reaching up to 30 cm (12 inches) caused the Bobos River to swell.
