Another weak signal in the latest snapshot of China's economy. Activity in China's factories shrinking for a fifth straight month in March and registering an eight month low of 48.1, according to a private survey. That is well below the line of 50 separating expansion from contraction. "Weakness is broadly - based," said the chief China economist for HSBC, which helps compile the survey. "We expect Beijing to launch a series of policy measures to stabilise growth."
