Company Description (as filed with the SEC)

United States Steel Corporation (U. S. Steel) is an integrated steel producer of flat-rolled and tubular products with major production operations in North America and Europe. An integrated steel producer uses iron ore and coke as primary raw materials for steel production. U. S. Steel has annual raw steel production capability of 22.0 million net tons (17.0 million tons in the United States and 5.0 million tons in Europe), which reflects a reduction of 2.4 million tons as a result of the permanent shutdown of the blast furnace and associated steelmaking operations, along with most of the flat-rolled finishing operations at Fairfield Works, during the third quarter of 2015. According to worldsteel Association's latest published statistics, U. S. Steel was the fifteenth largest steel producer in the world in 2014. U. S. Steel is also engaged in other business activities consisting primarily of railroad services and real estate operations.  ... More ...
