Westmoreland Coal Company began mining in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1854 as a Pennsylvania corporation. In 1910, we incorporated in Delaware and continued our focus on underground coal operations in Pennsylvania and the Appalachian Basin. We moved our headquarters from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Colorado Springs in 1995 and relocated the headquarters to Englewood, Colorado in November 2011. Today, Westmoreland Coal Company is an energy company employing approximately 1,250 employees whose operations include six surface coal mines in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and Texas, and two coal-fired power-generating units in North Carolina. On January 31, 2012, we completed the acquisition of the Kemmerer Mine in Kemmerer, Wyoming, which added approximately 4.4 million tons of coal sales a year.
