We are a fee-based services provider to the residential mortgage industry focused on providing servicing for reverse mortgage loans and credit- sensitive forward mortgage loans. The terms “Walter Investment,” the “Company,” “we,” “us” and “our” as used throughout this report refer to Walter Investment Management Corp. and its consolidated subsidiaries. We are a Maryland corporation incorporated in 1997. Our business was established in 1958 and previously operated as the financing business of Walter Energy, originating and purchasing residential loans and servicing these loans to maturity. In April 2009, we were spun off from Walter Energy, merged with Hanover Capital Mortgage Holdings, Inc., or Hanover, a real estate investment trust, or REIT, qualified as a REIT, and began to operate our business as an independent, publicly traded company.  ...
