Simulations Plus, Inc. (“Simulations Plus” or the “Company,” “us,” “we,” or “our”), which was incorporated in California in 1996, develops and produces software for use in pharmaceutical research and for education, and provides consulting and contract research services to the pharmaceutical industry. Simulations Plus also assumed responsibility for producing a personal productivity software program called Abbreviate!, originally spun out of products for the disabled created by our former subsidiary, Words+, for the retail market. Words+, founded in 1981, produces computer software and specialized hardware for use by persons with disabilities. During the first quarter of our fiscal year ended August 31, 2012, Words+ continued to refine its products for the disabled.
