We are a specialty finance company that lends to and invests in small and mid-sized companies, primarily in connection with investments by private equity sponsors. We define small and mid-sized companies as those with annual revenues between $25 million and $250 million. Our investment objective is to maximize our portfolio’s total return by generating current income from our debt investments and capital appreciation from our equity investments. We are externally managed and advised by Fifth Street Management LLC, which we also refer to as our “investment adviser.” As of September 30, 2012, we had originated $1.91 billion of funded debt and equity investments. Our portfolio totaled $1.29 billion at fair value and was comprised of 78 investments, 69 of which were in operating companies and nine of which were in private equity funds.
