The Registrant, Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (referred to as “the Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) was incorporated in 1974, with The Connecticut Water Company (Connecticut Water) as its largest subsidiary which was organized in 1956. Connecticut Water Service, Inc. is a non-operating holding company, whose income is derived from the earnings of its six wholly-owned subsidiary companies as of December 31, 2012. In 2012, approximately 83% of the Company’s net income was attributable to water activities carried out within its regulated water companies, Connecticut Water, The Maine Water Company (Maine Water) and The Biddeford & Saco Water Company (BSWC), collectively the "Regulated Companies". As of December 31, 2012, the Regulated Companies supplied water to 121,791 customers, representing a population of approximately 400,000, in 76 municipalities throughout Connecticut and Maine. ...
