Charter Financial Corporation, or “Charter Financial,” is a federally chartered corporation established in October 2001 to be the holding company for CharterBank. Charter Financial’s business activity is the ownership of the outstanding capital stock of CharterBank. CharterBank is a federally chartered stock savings bank headquartered in West Point, Georgia. CharterBank was originally founded in 1954 as a federally chartered mutual savings and loan association. Our principal business consists of attracting retail deposits from the general public in the areas surrounding our administrative office in West Point, Georgia and our branch offices located in west-central Georgia, east-central Alabama and now the Florida Panhandle, and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, in commercial real estate loans, one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, construction loans and investment securities and, to a lesser extent, commercial business loa  ...
