(which we refer to as “Chindex” or “the Company,” “we” or “us”), founded in 1981, is an American health care company providing premium quality healthcare services in China through the operations of United Family Healthcare (“United Family” or “UFH”), a network of private primary care hospitals and affiliated ambulatory clinics. United Family currently operates in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangzhou. This is the only multi-city, multi-facility, foreign owned and operated hospital network in China. Our hospitals and clinics are staffed by a mix of Western and Chinese physicians. For the year ended December 31, 2012, our healthcare services business reported revenue of $152 million, a growth of 33% over the prior year.
