The Company* was organized in 1961 and, through its subsidiaries, is primarily engaged in four business segments: the Real Estate business operated by AMREP Southwest Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, “AMREP Southwest”), and the Subscription Fulfillment Services, Newsstand Distribution Services and Product Services and Other businesses operated by Kable Media Services, Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, “Kable” or “Media Services”). As of July 1, 2010, the Company employed approximately 1,300 persons. Data concerning industry segments is set forth in Note 20 of the notes to the consolidated financial statements. The Company’s foreign sales and activities are not significant.
