The 2002 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 29th at Radio City Music Hall. This year's VMA host Jimmy Fallon will open The NASDAQ Stock Market to kick off the awards. Fallon recently finished work on his comedy album, The Bathroom Wall, which is scheduled for an August 27th release from Dreamworks Records. NYC & Company, the city's official tourism marketing organization, is working with the VMAs as they do with other high-profile meetings and events to help showcase New York City to a worldwide audience and generate direct event-related spending.
About Jimmy Fallon
With roles in the Oscar-Award winning feature film, Almost Famous, HBO's miniseries "Band of Brothers," and a member of the repertory company at "Saturday Night Live," Jimmy Fallon's resume is as extensive as it is versatile. Fallon joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in September, 1998. In the 2000 season, he became co-anchor of the show's popular "Weekend Update" and his memorable impressions of Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and John Lennon continue to be a highlight in a revitalized cast. In 1999, he released a book, I Hate This Place: The Pessimist's Guide To Life, which he co-wrote with his sister Gloria. He continues to perform stand-up across the country with regular appearances at the Improv and Caroline's Comedy Club in New York, to name a few.
