Roddick's rise to tennis stardom began in earnest at the 2001 NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, when the then 18-year-old wildcard entry
defeated former World No. 1 players Marcelo Rios and Pete Sampras in succession. The 20-year-old Boca Raton, FL, resident has reached the
semi-finals of two Grand Slams in 2003: the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
