Dorrie Fontaine, Dean of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, presides over the NASDAQ closing bell in celebration of National Nurses Week. Dean Fontaine will be joined by Joseph Boshart, President & CEO, Cross Country Healthcare, Inc.
Dean Fontaine will recognize the many contributions of nurses, including at the bedside, in patient education, providing primary care, conducting research, teaching the next generations of nurses, and engaging in policy decisions. She will highlight nursing's economic impact and the leadership role nurses will play in health care reform.

In 2003-2004, she served as president of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the largest specialty nursing organization in the world. Prior to her 2008 appointment as the Sadie Heath Cabaniss Professor and Dean of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Dean Fontaine was associate dean for academic programs and clinical professor at the University of California San Francisco and held previous positions at Georgetown University School of Nursing and the University of Maryland.
