About the Cancer Vixen FUNd at SVCMC, Cancer Vixen Spalapalooza!, and Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers :
The Cancer Vixen Fund at SVCMC, was founded by Author Marisa Acocella Marchetto and Co-Chair Grace dos Santos. Marisa, an artist and freelance cartoonist for the New Yorker and Glamour magazines, was uninsured when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She received treatment at St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. As someone who learned first-hand the importance of screening and early diagnosis, Marisa founded the Cancer Vixen Fund at SVCMC to help provide potentially life-saving screenings. The Fund will sponsor free mammogram screenings at Saint Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center on July 11, 2008 and in October on National Mammography Day.
Cancer Vixen Spalapalooza! is a glamourizing, good karma-fying fabulous cancer-kicking FUNdraiser for Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers to provide breast care and well-being for the uninsured and underinsured.
