Athletes Dathan Ritzenhein (2004 U.S. Olympian); Ryan Shay (3-time U.S. National Champion); Peter Gilmore (top American finisher in ING New York City Marathon 2006); Clint Verran (top American contender); and Jason Hartmann (top American contender) preside over the closing bell in celebration of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the Men's Marathon on Saturday, November 3rd. The top three finishers in the race will make the U.S. Olympic team.
The road to Beijing runs through Central Park as many of the top American distance runners will descend upon one of the biggest running stages in the world for the 2008 U.S Olympic Team Trials - Men's Marathon. The race, hosted by New York Road Runners, will be on Saturday, November 3, 2007 -- the day before the ING New York City Marathon -- starting live on NBC's Today Show at 7:35 a.m. This is the first time since 1928 that the Trials are taking place in New York.
