California Coastal Communities, Inc. (Nasdaq:CALC) is a residential land development and homebuilding company operating in Southern California. The Company's principal subsidiaries are Signal Landmark and Hearthside Homes, Inc. Signal Landmark owns 110 acres on the Bolsa Chica mesa, in Orange County, California. The Company obtained a coastal development permit from the California Coastal Commission in December 2005 for its Brightwater residential community on the Bolsa Chica mesa. Brightwater overlooks 120 acres of publicly-owned open space on the Bolsa Chica mesa, the Pacific Ocean and the Bolsa Chica wetlands, and represents one of the last opportunities to develop a master planned community on the Southern California coast. Construction of the 356 single-family home community commenced in June 2006 and grading was completed in October. The Company currently expects to begin building model homes during November and start selling homes in June 2007. Hearthside Homes, Inc. (see www.hearthside-homes.com)
has delivered 2,000 homes to families throughout Southern California since its formation in 1994.
