Peace Games (www.peacegames.org) is an independent non-profit organization with a mission to empower children from ages four to fourteen with skills, knowledge, relationships and opportunities to create their own safe communities and schools. Founded in 1992, Peace Games has formed partnerships with schools, volunteers, families and community members to reduce youth violence, bring a lasting climate change and make schools safer. Today, Peace Games is poised for large-scale growth adding to over 25,000 students they have already served in Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Peace Games will celebrate its first year of success in New York City with a fundraiser featuring The Citizens Band at 9 p.m. on July 11 at Hiro Ballroom in the Maritime Hotel. The Citizens Band, a celebrated New York City cabaret and musical troupe, will stage a special private performance to celebrate the Peace Games' mission of tolerance and community, and will feature performers such as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Zooey Deschanel and renowned model Karen Elson.
