Douglas Michels, President and CEO of OraSure Technologies, Inc. (OSUR), will join Frank J. Oldham Jr., Executive Director, the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA), and Regan Hofmann, member of the NAPWA Board of Directors and Editor-in-Chief of POZ Magazine, preside over the opening bell in observance of the twelfth annual National HIV Testing Day (NHTD). This important observance is a campaign led by NAPWA to encourage at-risk individuals to receive voluntary HIV counselling and testing.

OraSure Technologies is the manufacturer of the OraQuick(r) ADVANCE(tm) Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test, the only U.S. FDA-approved rapid, HIV-1/2 test that can be used with oral fluid, whole blood and plasma and produce results in 20 minutes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that as many as one-third of the estimated one million HIV- infected people in the United States may be unaware that they are infected with the HIV virus. HIV counseling and testing enables people with HIV to take steps to protect their own health and that of their partners, and helps people who test negative get the information they need to stay uninfected.
