Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Co-Founders Chairman Russell Simmons and
President and CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Opening Bell as the
organization celebrates 5th anniversary.
The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), the largest non-profit, national coalition of hip-hop artists and entertainment industry executives who believe that Hip-Hop is an enormously influential agent for positive social change which must be responsibly and proactively utilized to fight the war on poverty and injustice. HSAN Chairman Russell Simmons and President/CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis; Warner Music Group Executive Vice President Kevin Liles; Dash Music Group CEO Damon Dash; the Diplomats' CEO Jim Jones; Chrysler Financial Vice President William F. Jones will preside over the opening bell to celebrate the organization's fifth anniversary. HSAN has been responsible for organizing massive public awareness campaigns around the important issues of financial literacy, community empowerment, youth voter registration and mobilization and reforming the mandatory minimum sentencing/Rockefeller Drug Laws, among others.
