Staples Chairman and CEO Ron Sargent and NASDAQ President and CEO Bob Greifeld, will ring the opening bell. Joining them at the ceremony will be hundreds of Staples associates.
Staples invented the office superstore industry 20 years ago
this month and to celebrate this 20th anniversary, it will host
the first remote opening of The NASDAQ Stock Market in the
Northeast. The Opening Bell ceremony will be simultaneously
displayed at the NASDAQ MarketSite from NASDAQ's premier
broadcast studio in Times Square.
The Opening Bell is a ceremonial event that represents The
NASDAQ Stock Market's virtual market model. As a result, NASDAQ
can be opened from any location bringing together investors and
market participants from around the world to mark the beginning
of the trading day.
