Ana L. Oliveria President & CEO of The New York Women's Foundation ring the closing bell to highlight their Celebrating Women (R) Breakfast 2006 that is taking place that morning.

Established in 1987, The New York Women's Foundation (NYWF) is a cross-cultural alliance of women helping low-income women and girls in the five boroughs to achieve sustained economic security through expanded opportunities. From the outset, the founders strove to identify innovative organizations that were truly working to make a difference in the communities they served. The Foundation's grantmaking is rooted in a tradition of educating women of all means about the many ways in which we can help each other: as philanthropists, as volunteers, and as advocates for change. It is this singular commitment of women helping other women that sets The New York Women's Foundation apart from more traditional philanthropic organizations. In 2006, the Foundation will award over $1.6 million to more than 50 organizations in New York City. Grants are being awarded to programs that build communities and advocate for policy changes, promote women's economic security, encourage girls' positive development, foster communities free from violence, and enable women to lead healthy lives.
