Marcia Stein, Executive Director and Gael Greene, Founder of Citymeals-on-Wheels, preside over the opening bell to highlight their Savoring City Meals events that will take place this weekend at Daniel Restaurant. Joining them at the podium is Chef Daniel Boulud, Chef at Daniel Restaurant in NYC.
Citymeals-on-Wheels seeks to provide a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need, thereby helping them to live with dignity in their own familiar homes and communities.
Boulud's 2006 New Year's resolution was to raise $1,000,000 for Citymeals. In pursuit of that goal, his "Savoring Citymeals" events will occupy an entire weekend. Festivities begin with a lavish 12 course wine tasting lunch orchestrated by Wine Director Daniel Johnnes on Saturday March 11th at Daniel. The chef's now famous dinner gala and auction will take place Sunday March 12th at Daniel with special guests including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, His Excellency Jean David Levitte, French Ambassador to the United States. This year's event is of particular personal significance to Daniel Boulud as he will be inducted into the "Legion d'Honneur" by the French Ambassador to the United States on the occasion of the Sunday gala.
