Roland Lewis, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity - New York City will preside over the opening bell. Habitat for Humanity - New York City transforms lives and our city by uniting all New Yorkers around the cause of decent, affordable housing for everyone.
Founded in 1984 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat-NYC builds in four boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. They complete about 25 houses a year. Their current projects include an eight-unit condominium building in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx, six single-family homes in Queens and six single-family homes in Brooklyn. Later this year, Habitat-NYC will break ground on a new-construction, 41-unit condominium in the Brownsville/East New York section of Brooklyn.
