ST. LOUIS, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/11/13 --
Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (NYSE:RGA) announced today that J. Jeffrey ("Jeff") Hopson, 53, will join the company as Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, effective September 16, 2013. In this role, he will manage RGA's financial communications to the investment community, liaise with analysts and investors, and develop financial releases and presentations. Hopson will report to Jack B. Lay, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
In this function, Hopson succeeds John Hayden, Senior Vice President, Controller, who has headed RGA's investor relations function since 2004. Hayden is taking on a broader role within RGA's finance function, a move necessitated by growing demands as the business and related financial structure continue to expand.
"RGA's growing global presence and diversification, along with increasing interest in the company by the investing sector, have led to a need to have a senior executive dedicated to overseeing this specific function," said Greig Woodring, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Jeff brings a level of experience and expertise to this position that will be extremely valuable in our communications with the investment community."
Before joining RGA, Hopson was Managing Director and Senior Analyst of Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, a brokerage and investment banking firm headquartered in St. Louis. Prior to that role, between 1982 and 2008, he served in a variety of roles at A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., culminating as Vice President, Senior Analyst and Group Leader, Financial Services.
Hopson received B.A. and M.B.A. degrees in Finance from Saint Louis University. He was recognized by TheWall Street Journal ten times as an All-Star Analyst for his ability to pick stocks, and was inducted into The Wall Street Journal Analysts Hall of Fame in 2004. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
