Illinois Regions' Contracts Are Valued at $5 Billion
BidClerk data showed that Illinois major metro regions saw more than
2,400 new construction projects released for bid in the 2nd
quarter of 2014. The total value of those projects was $5 billion. This
compares to a total contract value of $5.4 billion that BidClerk
reported in the 1st quarter of 2014.
Nationally, BidClerk reported on $126 billion in commercial construction
contracts out-to-bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014, across more
than 50,000 projects. BidClerk saw an increase in the total contract
values of more than $14 billion compared to the 2nd quarter
of 2013. These figures include both public and private work, and it
represents the aggregate value of actively bidding commercial
construction contract opportunities available in BidClerk's database.
For the Chicago MSA region, BidClerk data showed there were more than
1,600 new construction projects released for bid in the 2nd
quarter of 2014. The contracts were valued at more than $3.8 billion.
One notable project actively bidding in the Chicago MSA region is the
Forsythe Technology Data Center. (BidClerk project number 2744375.)
It is being built at an estimated cost of $40 million. The architect is
Sheehan Partners (Chicago, IL) and the general contractor is Turner
Construction (Chicago, IL).
For the St. Louis MSA region, BidClerk data showed that more than 300
new construction projects were released for bid in the 2nd
quarter of 2014. The contracts were valued at more than $650 million.
One notable project actively bidding in the St. Louis MSA region is The
Vanguard at Creve Coeur. (BidClerk project number 2315104.)
It is being built at an estimated cost of $20 million. The construction
management firm is Covington Realty Partners (St. Louis, MO).
The areas surveyed for this BCI report are all major-metro regions in
Illinois and surrounding areas, including Chicago-Naperville-Joliet, IL;
Champaign-Urbana, IL; Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IL; Peoria, IL;
Rockford, IL; Springfield, IL, and St. Louis, MO.
