Critically-Acclaimed Film Continues to Receive Major Media Attention Ahead of August 15 Theatrical Release
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- StarStream Entertainment's (OTCQB:SSET) ("StarStream" or the "Company") critically-acclaimed film "Life After Beth" premieres tonight, August 8, at Sundance NEXT FEST at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
"Life After Beth," starring Aubrey Plaza ("Parks and Recreation"), Dane DeHaan ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2," "Chronicle"), John C. Reilly ("Step Brothers," "Anchorman 2"),Molly Shannon ("Saturday Night Live," "Evan Almighty," "Shallow Hal"), Paul Reiser ("Mad About You"), and Cheryl Hines ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), screened at Sundance in January, where it was chosen among 12,218 submissions for the U.S. Dramatic Competition. "Life After Beth" has received top reviews from leading film critics at Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Huffington Post, Entertainment Weekly, and Vanity Fair.
In the July 28 issue of Vanity Fair, movie critic Bruce Handy writes: "I'm now going to urge you, if you can, to see the comedy "Life After Beth," currently available on demand via DirectTV, before it opens in theaters on August 15. Just see it. Don't look it up on IMDB. Don't watch the trailer. Don't look at the stills or read the reviews from its Sundance premiere last January. Turn off the TV if a cast member shows up on "The Tonight Show." If you don't have DirectTV, stick your head in the sand as best you can for the next three weeks."
Kim Leadford, CEO of StarStream, stated, "We're excited about the continued positive press we're seeing for "Life After Beth." In the past two weeks, in addition to coverage in Vanity Fair and other leading publications, Aubrey Plaza has been making the rounds on TV with appearances on ABC's "Good Morning America" and "The View," NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon," and Comedy Central's "The Daily Show." The growing buzz we're seeing for "Life After Beth" is a great indication that the film will provide a strong validation of our business model, which was developed to deliver a higher return on investment and a faster "time to money" than the traditional film finance model."
After its screening at Sundance in January, Variety'sGeoff Berkshire said "Life After Beth" "is thoughtful and laugh-out loud funny. Given the current undead craze in pop culture, commercial prospects look lively -- especially among young adults accustomed to playful genre romps."
"Life After Beth" is being distributed domestically by A24, a New York-based finance and film distribution company backed by Guggenheim Partners.
