NASDAQ Names New Head of Government Relations
New
York, NY The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. ("NASDAQ";
OTCBB: NDAQ), today announced the appointment of James L. Johnson
as Vice President and Head of the Office of Government Relations.
Mr. Johnson joins NASDAQ from AT&T and will be based in NASDAQ's
Washington, D.C. office reporting to Edward Knight, Executive
Vice President and General Counsel, The NASDAQ Stock Market.
Mr.
Johnson will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of NASDAQ's
government affairs department and for leading legislative affairs
and lobbying efforts on Capital Hill. Mr. Johnson replaces Dan
Crowley.

critical time for the capital markets and market structure reform.
J.J's background as a strategic leader and congressional affairs
expert will ensure that NASDAQ's voice is heard in Washington
public policy debates," commented Ed Knight, Executive Vice
President.
Before
joining NASDAQ, Mr. Johnson was Vice President, Congressional
Affairs, and Director, Federal Legislative Strategy at AT&T,
where he represented AT&T before U.S. Congress, Executive
Branch, and other policy makers. He also worked closely with trade
associations, major think tanks, and interest groups as part of
his advocacy for public policy positions.
Previously,
Mr. Johnson practiced law at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss,
Hauer and Feld in the Washington, D.C., Public Law and Policy
Section. He also served as the Deputy Director of Congressional
Affairs at the Dole for President Committee in 1996.
Mr.
Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and a
J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
