New York, NYThe Nasdaq Stock Market® announced that Connecticut Congressman Christopher Shays opened the market today at 9:30 a.m., ET, at the Nasdaq MarketSiteSM located in New York City's Time Square. Hardwick "Wick" Simmons, Chairman and CEO of Nasdaq*, and Daniel F.C. Crowley, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Nasdaq, accompanied Congressman Shays at the ceremony. Congressman Shays represents Connecticut's Fourth Congressional District. He serves as the Chairman of the Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, which oversees the Departments of State, Defense and Veterans Affairs. In this role, Shays is working to reduce the threat of chemical and biological weapons and prepare our emergency response teams to handle potential terrorist attacks; improve pay and living conditions for American soldiers; decrease the serious back-log of security clearance investigations; and improve financial and inventory management in the Pentagon.
