In Focus: BlackBerry Storm to take on rivals

BlackBerry Storm to take on rivals The new BlackBerry Storm is set to challenge the market for touchscreen 3G upon its release later this year.

While Apple's iPhone has been on the market for over a year, BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion is set to introduce the Storm to the fold and hopes to win market share.

And a number of sources believe the Storm could be the handset to rival the iPhone market in north America. The new BlackBerry features the highest resolution screen of any previous model.

It also features a full HTML web browser and a 3.2-megapixel camera, a blog on TMCnet claims.

Last month, BlackBerry introduced its first flip handset, the Pearl Flip 8220, at the CTIA cell phone show in San Francisco.

However, Cnet notes that so far, smart phones have not generally taken off when in flip form - so it remains to be seen if this model from BlackBerry will be any different.
