Samsung has "wowed the crowds" at the IFA 2008 consumer electronics show with the ultra-thin X360 laptop, which aims to take on its HP and Apple's Macbook Air in the slimline stakes.
Weighing in at 1.27 kg, the newcomer "makes the Macbook Air" look fat by comparison, as it tips the scales at 1.36 kg, gadgets site Pocket Lint states.
However, the 13.3-inch screen model has not cut back on features in order to shed weight, it adds. The X360 will come with three USB ports, a built-in HDMI connection, a seven-in-one memory card and an Ethernet socket for accessing for the internet.
In addition, the laptop will have a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera, wireless connectivity and a 128GB hard drive with an Intel Centrino 2 processor.
According to T3, Samsung claim the X360 will be the lightest laptop in its class and the South Korean is taking aim at Apple with its slogan, "lighter than air and fully featured".
The Samsung X360 is expected to be commercially available from September.
