It sounds like something right out of one of 007's adventures but owners of the Aston Martin DBS will soon be able to open their luxury car with a personalized transponder contained in a high-end wristwatch.
The timepiece, which has been developed in partnership with watchmaker Jaeger LeCoulture, uses a miniaturized transponder that can be configured by Aston Martin dealers to act as a key controlling the access to a specific DBS ensuring "security and privacy are maintained at all times".
Described by the automaker as a "landmark in chronograph design", it also features a metallic grey DBS symbol, the Aston Martin emblem and a case and dial inspired by the look and feel of the luxury car.
In a statement, Aston Martin said the new watch will be officially unveiled before the Paris Motor Show, which is being held in October.
Commenting on the gadget, Aston Martin chief executive officer Dr Ulrich Bez said: "It is the first time horology and automotive engineering have been combined in this way."
In addition to the DBS, Aston Martin also makes the DB9 and the V8 Vantage. The company's DB5 and DBS models have appeared as James Bond's car in the movies Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and 2006's Casino Royale.
