In Focus: Nike+ headed to iPhone?

Nike+ headed to iPhone? Sporting goods firm Nike could be bringing a version of its Nike+ jogging system to Apple's iPhone, according to reports.

Gadgets news site Pocket Lint says although there is no official word on the development of a Nike+ application for iPhone, screen grabs have emerged on French website iphon.fr apparently showing a Nike+ icon on an iPhone touchscreen menu.

Runners can currently use Nike+ to track and record their pace, time, distance and calories burned via a sensor in their running shoes. The information is stored on either an iPod Nano or a special Nike+ Sportsband worn on the wrist.

The data can be uploaded onto a personalized page on the Nike+ website, allowing joggers to build an archive of their training, set goals, view overall distances or even take part in challenges against friends or rival teams.

Pocket Lint says the iPhone application could use the 3G gadget's stopwatch and in-built GPS system to record data, similar to Samsung's MiCoach system.

On August 31st, Nike will hold the Nike+ Human Race, a series of 10K runs in 25 cities around the world including New York, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo and Rome.
