Highlights
State Street's confidence index for institutional investors edged slightly higher in June to 81.4. The report is upbeat on the results, arguing that a steady reading is a plus given wide uncertainty over global growth and global inflation: "... institutional investors overall are cautiously finding value at current price levels." Confidence among North American investors is little changed with European confidence up and Asian confidence down. The report attributed strength in Europe to the tough anti-inflation stance by the ECB and weakness in Asia to the need to strengthen regional currencies in order to stem inflation.
