Quarterly Services Survey
Definition
The Census Bureau will focus this quarterly services survey on information and technology-related service industries. These were include information; professional, scientific and technical services; administrative & support services; and waste management and remediation services. These sectors correspond to three NAICS sectors (51, 54, and 56). The Quarterly Services Survey produces estimates of total operating revenue and the percentage of revenue by class of customer.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Information services revenue for the first quarter fell 4.7 percent from the fourth quarter but was up 3.5 percent from first quarter 2007 -- rates that are moderately slower than fourth quarter rates. Employment services fell 1.9 percent from the fourth quarter. Note that jobs in temporary help services have fallen badly all year in Bureau of Labor payroll statistics, down 193,000 from a December peak.
