Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Stores sales remained weak but at least didn't weaken further, up 0.6 percent in the Nov. 1 week but at a year-on-year pace of only +0.9 percent compared to +1.3 percent in the prior week. The report said consumers continue to concentrate on everyday items. Redbook is up next.
