Highlights
Chain-store sales popped up in the Oct. 4 as cold weather raised demand for seasonal goods. ICSC-Goldman's same-store sales index rose 0.1 percent in the week for a still very weak 1.3 percent year-on-year pace. ICSC-Goldman sees no better than a flat to 1.0 percent gain for September as a whole. A run of chain stores will post their monthly sales results on Thursday. Redbook is up next.
