ICSC-Goldman Store Sales
Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Consumers are shopping for little else but essentials, driving what is now the ICSC-Goldman weekly chain-store index down 0.2 percent in the Sep. 27 week for a very weak +1.1 percent year-on-year rate. Michael Niemira, who continues to compile the report, has lowered his estimate for the full month of September to flat to +1.0 percent. Effective this week, UBS is no longer named in the report which is still compiled by the International Council of Shopping Centers and now also Goldman Sachs.
