Highlights
Chain store sales are proving soft in August, at a 2.3 percent year-on-year pace in the Aug. 23 week for same-store sales that's down from a peak of 2.9 percent at the outset of the month. But week-to-week, sales did improve 0.2 percent. The report said wet and comparatively cold weather offset the benefit of lower gas prices. Redbook is up next.
