Highlights
Chain store sales, boosted by tax holidays in a number of states and the beginning of the back-to-school season, came in very strong in the Aug. 2 week, at 2.9 percent for the best year-on-year pace of 2008. But week-on-week, reflecting a tough comparison, sales were unchanged. Redbook is up next.
