This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Any fading from the winding down of tax rebates has yet to appear. On the contrary, ICSC-UBS reports very strong same-store sales for the July 26 week, up 1.2 percent week-on-week for a solid 2.6 percent year-on-year rate. The report cited special sales as a positive factor for the week. Redbook is up next.
