Highlights
ICSC-UBS reports weak retail sales in the March 22 week, down 0.4 percent compared to the prior week and up only 1.0 percent against the year-ago week. This report has been running less weak than Redbook but the 1.0 percent rate, which is exceptionally low for ICSC-UBS, puts the two reports at about the same level. Remember ICSC-UBS and Redbook both measure same-store sales. Total sales, as measured by Commerce Department data, are running at or just below the rate of inflation.
