This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Sales softened in the March 1 week reflecting consumer caution, according to ICSC-UBS's weekly report that shows a 0.6 percent week-to-week dip for a year-on-year pace of 2.1 percent, down 2 tenths in the week. The report said February as a whole is likely to prove slightly better than a very weak January. Retail sales for January will be released a week from Thursday. Redbook is up next.
