Highlights
ICSC-UBS reports a solid surge in the final week before Christmas, with sales rising 2.8 percent both for the Dec. 21 week and for the year-ago comparison. But the report said the gain is not enough to make up for soft sales earlier in the season. The report sees sales for the November-December period up no more than 2.5 percent, modest but still an ICSC-UBS level that would be one of the best of the second half. ICSC-UBS's report contrasts with comments late Monday from discount giant Target which warned that December sales may decline. Redbook is up next.
