Highlights
ICSC-UBS's report for the Dec. 8 week shows a week-to-week 0.2 percent gain offset by an 8 tenth tumble in the year-on-year rate to 2.3 percent. The report offers no explanation for the swing in the year-on-year rate which is the steepest in six months. But the report does note, referring to its own consumer surveys, that consumers are pushing back their holiday shopping to the last minute -- perhaps more so than ever and pointing to a "big surge" in demand ahead. Redbook is up next and hopefully will offer a clearer picture of the Dec. 8 week.
