This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Store sales strengthened in the Nov. 3 week, according to ICSC-UBS's index that showed a 1.0 percent week-to-week increase, compared to up 0.1 percent for the prior week. But on a year-on-year basis, sales are still soft, coming in at 2.4 percent in the Nov. 3 week, down from 2.5 percent the prior week.
