Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Retail sales held steady in what ICSC-UBS describes as an uneventful Aug. 25 week. Same-store sales rose 0.3 percent week-on-week with the year-on-year rate down 2 tenths to a moderate 2.5 percent. For comparison, year-on-year sales rose 2.6 percent in July. The report said weather in the week was warm but wet. Redbook is up next.
