Highlights
ICSC-UBS's report for the Feb. 24 week is hard to read, showing a 0.2 percent week-on-week rise but a very sharp 1.3 percentage point fall in the year-on-year rate to a "much more subdued" 2.2 percent rate. Subdued in fact seems to be the bottom line as the report expects full month chain-store sales, to be released Thursday, to show only a 2.5 percent to 3.0 percent year-on-year gain. The report said weather was a big factor in the latest week, but working both ways with both winter and spring-like weather affecting sales. Redbook, which has consistently been showing slower rates, will be up later this morning.
