Highlights
ICSC-UBS reported a sharp 1.3 percent jump in same-store sales for the Feb. 3 week as a blast of cold weather boosted demand for consumer staples. But the year-on-year rate, less volatile than the week-on-week rate, fell back 6 tenths to a still strong 4.3 percent. Retail data, which have firmed of late, will swing back in force with Redbook later this morning followed by chain-store sales on Thursday and retail trade data from the government the following Wednesday.
